Formed "...as an alternative to what was at the time supposed to be the alternative", THE RECORD PLAYERS managed to bridge the divide between Punk, Psychedelia and Folk in a very British way. They released two EPs and a single, as well as having tracks released on various compilations. The sleeve to their first EP was hand made from salvaged "tacky 1960's woodgrain wallpaper".

Phil Martin later took up the Hurdy-Gurdy and Bagpipes, and was regularly seen busking outside the Cathedral gates in Canterbury. He now plays in DROHNE (www.drohne.co.uk).
